Water Removal is one of the essential services of any water damage restoration project. When a property floods and there is standing water on the floors, water removal equipment is required to remove the standing water and to get the structure restored to its original condition.
WATER REMOVAL EQUIPMENT

Our weight assisted water extraction is our best and most method of water removal for our customers. We typically are removing water from wet carpet and pad, which requires this specialty piece of equipment.
Our weight assisted extractor can remove water through the pad and carpet allowing us to dry the carpet in place.
This extractor is also portable, which allows us to remove water in basements, 2nd stories of homes, or multiple levels in a commercial building. This extractor is one of our best tools for water damage restoration projects.
Restorex also uses a portable vacuum extractor that is best used when removing water from concrete floors or commercial grade carpeting. This is common in commercial properties where the subfloor is a concrete slab.
This vacuum is very useful when removing water from hard surfaces and can also be used on different levels of a building.
When the water in the property rises above the carpet or about and 1 inch, we will use a submersible pump to remove the water to a level where the portable extractors will be effective.
These pumps are like basement sump pumps, but they have a guard that allows them to remove water down to a low level. These pumps are most often used in flooded basements or flooded crawl spaces.
We will use our trailer mounted water extractor for Category 3 or sewage water removal. Our trailer has a 300-gallon tank attached to it, that can hold the sewage water until we can dispose of it. This unit is most effective when removing water from a flooded crawl space.
We use a gas-powered pump when we have a heavily affected crawl space or basement. Normally the water level will be above a foot when we decide to use the gas-powered pump for water removal.
These pumps can remove a lot of water very quickly but can be hard to use. They require priming and constant water submersion to be effective.

BASEMENT WATER REMOVAL
When a finished basement floods, water removal is necessary to properly remediate the damage. Most of the water is removed using our weight assisted extractor, which is the best way to remove water from a flooded basement.
If we properly remove the water from the soaked carpet and pad, we can successfully dry the carpet in place, which can be a great opportunity for a homeowner if they don’t want to go through the hassles of replacing the carpet and pad.
CRAWL SPACE WATER REMOVAL
When a crawl space floods from heavy rains, a burst pipe, or a sump pump failure, it can be a difficult job to remove the water. Crawl spaces are generally not easy places to get in and out of and they also are not the cleanest places to work.
Removing water from a crawl space requires more time and more planning than a basement or the main level of a home. Normally, we will have to remove the vapor barrier first before we can start extracting the standing water under the home.
Once the vapor barrier has been removed, we can either use a submersible pump, if it is clean water, or we will use our trailer-mounted extractor for sewage water removal.
Flooded crawl spaces require our technicians to wear extra protective equipment when working in a confined space. Typically, we will wear Tyvek suit, gloves, and eye protection. If we are removing category 3 water, then we will also wear a full-face respirator and a rain-suit over our Tyvek suits.
WATER REMOVAL FROM A HARD SURFACE FLOOR
When we are removing water from a concrete floor, we will use a special tool called an extraction wand. This wand can provide suction at the surface of the concrete floor and vacuum the smallest amount of water from it. An extraction wand is an excellent tool for removing water from a hard surface floor.
DRYING THE STRUCTURE AFTER WATER REMOVAL
Water damage that requires water removal is typically substantial. After the water removal services are completed, a dry out will also be needed to get the wet structure dried back to its original moisture content. If the structure is not properly dried, the property will be at risk for mold and rot damage. Our Drying Services always follow our Water Removal Services.
Our extractors are excellent at removing large amounts of standing water from the property, but they are unable to remove the moisture that absorbs into the wood subfloors, wood stud walls, carpet and pad, and drywall. Therefore, it is necessary to use water damage drying equipment to get the property dried out. The equipment will typically run for about 3 to 5 days, depending on the severity of the water damage and the parts of the property that were affected.
