  We had a accident that caused major damage to our house, Called Restorex and they came and assessed it the afternoon we called for help.  They stabilized the walls and made sure we were safe.  The next day Brian was here to tear out carpet and damaged drywall and take away the damaged remains the next day.  We felt totally comfortable with Van and Doug who came every day to work on the house.  Our house turned out beautifully.  I can't say enough about their confidence and total control of the repairs.  Every concern we had Brian would say "I'll take care of that", He did all the insurance communication and all coordination of the different required services and it all came together with quality work seamlessly.  We would recommend them to anyone who needs restoration, painting, electrical, plumbing, and flooring.  They cleaned up every day before leaving and moved all of our stuff around for us.   I had a pipe in my basement ceiling leak and we didn’t realize it until the paint on the drywall started to bubble up.  I reached out to Restorex to help assess the damage once the leak was fixed by a plumber.  It was easy to get in contact with them and they were super responsive.     Corbin came out to my house and did the evaluation.  He was friendly and very knowledgeable of water damage and the necessary repairs.  He explained how to dry out the walls to prevent mold and then explained how I could patch the drywall myself to save some money.  He didn’t charge for the evaluation. From the moment I called Restorex, they spent considerable time explaining the process of water remediation, how the insurance claim process would work, and assuring me that this would be handled with care and competence. The crews that came to my house were polite, professional, clean, and very efficient. They worked around my two small children and dogs the whole time, and truly made us feel like they were taking care of us; not just doing a job.   Restorex was quick to come out after our sump pump float failed to engage the pump.  They ran a machine over the basement carpet to try to pull the water out and into the sump pit after the pump was working.  Afterwards, they installed about 20 fans and 2 large dehumidifiers for 3 days to continue to dry out the carpet.  Very friendly and easy to talk to guys.

During an inspection our team will use a variety of moisture meters and thermal imaging to determine how much of the structure is wet and we will do a damage assessment of the building materials that were affected to help our customers decide how to properly proceed with the mitigation process.

After the initial inspection is complete, we can provide our customers with our recommendation for the mitigation process and advise them if they should contact their insurance provider to place a claim.

WATER REMOVAL

When a property has been heavily flooded by water, water removal is one of the first steps of the restoration process.
Restorex uses a variety of pumps and vacuums to assist our customers with water removal in their properties. When there is basement water damage, this is where a lot of water removal is needed. Especially when the basement has wet carpet and pad. The carpet and pad act a giant sponge for the water, and it takes a specialty weighted extractor to remove the water effectively.

If a customer has a flooded crawl space, we have a trailer-mounted extractor and smaller submersible pumps that can remove the excess water from under the home.

STRUCTURAL DRYING

Once the excess water is removed, the property needs to be dried back to its original moisture content to avoid secondary damage such as rot and mold.

During this step of the water mitigation process, our team will evaluate what building materials have been ruined or cannot be dried out properly. They will be removed and discarded before the water damage drying equipment is set up.

Typically, materials that are removed include:

Baseboards
Laminate Flooring
Drywall
Insulation

Other types of materials including particle board cabinets, hardwood floors, engineered wood floors, ceramic tile and wood underlayment can be removed depending on the circumstances of the water damage and the way the structure was assembled.

After the materials are properly removed, we will set up drying equipment that will remove the remaining moisture from the structure. The water damage equipment we use include:

Low Grain Refrigerant Dehumidifiers
Air Movers or Fans
Heaters (Electric and Gas)
HEPA air scrubbers

The drying process will last approximately 3 to 5 days. If the structure has been wet for an extended period, it may take longer.

WATER DAMAGE REPAIRS

Once the structural drying is complete, the water damage repairs can begin.

NOTE: If an insurance claim has been placed, there is a break between the water mitigation and the repairs for the contractor and insurance adjuster to settle a repair estimate amount and for the initial monies to be released.

When the property receives the funds and the scope is finalized, the repairs can begin. This the process to replace all of the interior finishes that were affected by the water damage. The floors, walls, cabinets, ceilings etc. will be repaired and replaced at this time.

This can be an overwhelming process for most property owners and it’s important to be as patient as possible when this process is happening. There are a lot of moving pieces and it usually takes longer than most people expect.
