August, 2022.We had a accident that caused major damage to our house, Called Restorex and they came and assessed it the afternoon we called for help. They stabilized the walls and made sure we were safe. The next day Brian was here to tear out carpet and damaged drywall and take away the damaged remains the next day. We felt totally comfortable with Van and Doug who came every day to work on the house. Our house turned out beautifully. I can't say enough about their confidence and total control of the repairs. Every concern we had Brian would say "I'll take care of that", He did all the insurance communication and all coordination of the different required services and it all came together with quality work seamlessly. We would recommend them to anyone who needs restoration, painting, electrical, plumbing, and flooring. They cleaned up every day before leaving and moved all of our stuff around for us. We can't thank them enough.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Chelsea Overstreet9. August, 2022.Corbin, Terry, and the team at Restorex are absolutely pros! July, 2022.I had a pipe in my basement ceiling leak and we didn’t realize it until the paint on the drywall started to bubble up. I reached out to Restorex to help assess the damage once the leak was fixed by a plumber. It was easy to get in contact with them and they were super responsive. Corbin came out to my house and did the evaluation. He was friendly and very knowledgeable of water damage and the necessary repairs. He explained how to dry out the walls to prevent mold and then explained how I could patch the drywall myself to save some money. He didn’t charge for the evaluation. Overall I was very satisfied with my experience with Restorex and I would definitely use them again if I run into an issue in the future.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Lisa Maloney14. July, 2022.Corbin came to give me a quote for restoration and was extremely thorough and knowledgeable in discussing my issue with me. He took the time to explain things to me, which my other restoration company did not, and let me know what could be done to remediate. The quote was also significantly less than the other provider. I would highly recommend him based on his knowledge and willingness to help. Seemed to have good ethics and put me as the customer first.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Brett Wood25. May, 2022.Top notch company! From the moment I called Restorex, they spent considerable time explaining the process of water remediation, how the insurance claim process would work, and assuring me that this would be handled with care and competence. The crews that came to my house were polite, professional, clean, and very efficient. They worked around my two small children and dogs the whole time, and truly made us feel like they were taking care of us; not just doing a job. They even sent someone over the weekend to check on the equipment and make sure we were doing ok and didn’t have any questions or concerns. This company’s work was top notch, and they went the extra mile and made us feel like family while they did it all. I can truly say I would never use another company for this type of work.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Joseph Farrell22. April, 2022.Restorex was quick to come out after our sump pump float failed to engage the pump. They ran a machine over the basement carpet to try to pull the water out and into the sump pit after the pump was working. Afterwards, they installed about 20 fans and 2 large dehumidifiers for 3 days to continue to dry out the carpet. Very friendly and easy to talk to guys.
Below are some common questions our customers ask about their insurance policies.
- Will my insurance company pay for my claim?
- Do I need multiple estimates?
- What is a preferred contractor?
Sewage
“Sewage” is the wastewater that comes from the drains of your house. This includes your toilets, showers, sinks, dishwasher, and washing machine. This water has contaminants that normally flow away from your house and into a sewer system. Eventually, this water would end up at your local sewage treatment facility.
Unfortunately, when a drain line breaks, this sewage can find its way into your living space causing bad smells and can make your home unclean while it is present. This is why its important that you get the sewage cleaned up quickly and properly.
Sewage Water Removal
If you are experiencing a sewage backup in a basement, most likely you have a large amount of sewage water that needs to be removed. Because of the contaminants and odors, this requires us to use personal protective equipment, such as full faced respirators and nylon protective suits.
We also have a piece of equipment to properly remove sewage water. This equipment has a large vacuum unit that is attached to a 300 gallon tank. The vacuum provides the suction required to remove the water from the basement. Then the water is stored in the tank during the cleanup process.
After the majority of the sewage water is removed from the basement, we will continue to dilute and wash the area with water.
When all of the water and contaminants are removed, we are ready to sanitize the affected areas.
Sanitizing Sewage Damage
We use a product called Benefect to sanitize the surfaces that have been affected by sewage.
Benefect is a broad spectrum disinfectant and it surpasses all of the governments germ killing requirements for hospital disinfectants. The other great benefit of using Benefect is that it has the lowest toxicity level compared to other disinfectant products.
Benefect is a made using plant based essential oils. These essential oils help plants protect themselves from invading microbes, much like the human body produces antibodies to protect itself. Therefore, Benefect, is like a plant immune system in a bottle.
We will apply this product to all of the affected areas after the large contaminants and water are removed.
Drying after Sewage Removal
After the sewage is removed from the affected area and all the surfaces have been sanitized, the structure now has to be dried back to its original moisture content.
Now, the job becomes a water damage restoration or water mitigation. First, all of the porous building materials that we affected with sewage would be removed. This includes carpet, pad, drywall, baseboards etc. The living space would be stripped down to its structural members.
Then we will set up water damage equipment, to dry the structure so there will be no risk of mold damage.
Crawl Space Sewage Cleanup
Crawl spaces are very susceptible to sewage damage because the drain lines for the home typically run through this area. When there is an issue with waste water drains, the sewage water tend to find its way into the crawl space. Another issue that arises, is most people do not notice there is an issue until they begin to smell the bad odors.
So when the home owner discovers there is a problem, there is usually a good size pool of sewage water in their crawlspace. It takes a lot of effort to cleanup sewage in a crawlspace. Crawl spaces typically do not have a lot of room to maneuver, which can make removing the sewage difficult.
We will start the process by removing the vapor barrier, which will bring out a lot of solids out of the crawl space. Next, we will begin removing the sewage water that is left behind. After, the water is removed we will begin to remove some of the containment soil that has been affected by the sewage. We also apply hydrated lime to the soil to decontaminate it. Hydrated lime is an essential product used in many waste water treatment processes.
If the sewage water caused the wooden structure in the crawlspace to absorb moisture, then we would set drying equipment for 3 days to dry out the crawlspace before applying hydrated lime and re-installing the vapor barrier.
Cost of Sewage Cleanup
For a significant sewage cleanup, you are looking at a cost between 5000 – 8000 dollars. This would be a grossly contaminated crawlspace or basement. If a home owner is having one of these situations, we would recommend a insurance claim and to use a professional water damage restoration company.
What if you have a small amount sewage damage from a toilet overflow or a small drain backup?
The cost would be significantly lower.
The cost would range between 1000 – 2000 dollars depending on the severity. Sometimes these situations don’t justify having a professional restoration company to be involved, but it does require someone to do the dirty work of cleaning up sewage.
